• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Daily Farm Report 6/16/08

Colby Rasmus churned up a couple hundred words. There’s an article on the STL Cardinals main page as well as in Kevin Goldstein’s Monday Morning Ten Pack. I’ll have more on him this afternoon.
The Red Baron recaps some minor leaguers who have made it the the majors and other names you should know. [...]

Daily Farm Report 6/15/08

The QC Times has some notes on roster moves throughout the organization:

Brett Wallace is going to start at Quad Cities. I was kind of hoping he’d jump all the way to Palm Beach but don’t be surprised if he’s there by the end of the year.
Richard Castillo and Oliver Marmol are heading down from PB [...]

Daily Farm Report 6/9/08

The interweb is atwitter with the injury to Adam Wainwright. My money is on ruptured tendon a la Joel Zumaya. There’s not a lot of news from the minors so we’ll get right to the DFR. QC get’s rained out (or just a soggy field); they’re supposed to make up the game [...]

Daily Farm Report 6/8/08

Couple of notes to start off:

The Quad Cities game was cancelled. I think it’s weather related but I haven’t seen any official report on it.
Bryan Brasher of the Memphis Commercial Appeal catches up with reliever Jason Motte. I think you’ll hear some of the local talking heads claim that Motte couldn’t handle the [...]

Daily Farm Report 6/7/08

It’s been nearly two weeks since I last did a DFR as I was unavailable last weekend. I think something important happened recently. . . like some draft or something. Anywho, I’m just going to let you in on a few quick thoughts:

I feel like I should be more excited about Wallace than [...]

Scouting the Memphis Redbirds 5/4

Taking a look at PJ Walters first start at AAA. Also some notes on Motte, Mather and Anderson.

Daily Farm Report 5/26/08

Joe Mather gets a call to the big leagues. Unfortunately, it’s the same call the Chris Perez got initially — one that’s rescinded a little while later. That’s not a dig at the Cardinal’s front office but kudos to Mather for not getting too bummed about it or at least not letting it [...]

Daily Farm Report 5/25/08

Pop Warner lets his batters swing at 3-0 pitches without reaming them once they get to the dugout.
Couple of posts from Matthew Leach, the Cardinals beat reporter for their mlb.com website. The first is that there’s apparently no rush to get Mather up to the big leagues, in part because they’re having trouble getting [...]

Memphis Redbirds Game 5/18

Mitchell Boggs and Joe Mather starred in this 1-0 game where the Redbirds eeked out a win in the 9th. I wanted to take a look at Boggs start as well as a few other players. Here’s what I saw.

Daily Farm Report 5/19/08

Kudos to Tommy Pham for being named the Midwest League’s offensive player of the week.  Now, if only he can do that in Palm Beach. . .
Colby Rasmus is in Kevin Goldstein’s Monday Morning Ten Pack but we’ve already had a lively discussion re: Rasmus.  Allen Craig makes the list too and I think Goldstein [...]

Daily Farm Report 5/18/08

Kary Booher has a piece on Rauschenberger’s retirement. It’s really kind of a strange situation. Rauschenberger was pretty awful to start last year before coming on strong in May and then again in August. He probably didn’t have a future in the majors but it’s still kinda sad to watch someone walk [...]

Daily Farm Report 5/17/08

You hate to hear the things that Ottavino is saying:
“My confidence is flying out the window,” Ottavino said. “I’ve got to figure it out one way or another. I don’t know what else to do but keep working.”
And yet that’s not what worries me the most. Kary Booher slips this line in the middle [...]
