Not quite sure how that would work. Wonder if the Haerther start had any connection to him getting cut loose from the 40-man roster? Not quite sure how that would work.

His name is Buddy Blair. He didn't do very well for us as he posted a 6.71 Era in 79.1 innings. But he has also spent a year with the Philadelphia Phillies as a hitter. Knowing just that no one cares at all, but one small thing that will make you care about him is, he played for the Phillies in 1942 and died in 1996. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/B/Buddy-Blair.shtml I was just looking at some old minor leage stats and I found a guy who pitched for 4 different levels for us in 2005. I can see why there may be some concerns about him sticking at 3B, but after watching him play I definitely think he has the ability to stick there long term if he works at it. It's obvious he has a muscular lower body but seems nimble on his feet while fielding his position. I didn't really get a chance to gauge his defensive range as he didn't see too much hit his way but he did demonstrate decent footwork when forced to come in on the ball and showed a strong, accurate arm when throwing off-balance. Physically he reminds me a bit of another former Cardinals 3B in Terry Pendleton because of the large lower body - he really surprised me with his speed on the basepaths. He's nowhere near a speed demon but kind-of "scoots" around the bases. Also, got to see Carlos Pupo DH. Just from his few AB's in that game it is obvious he has trouble with pitch recognition, but when he makes contact the ball just jumps off his bat. He also showed really nice speed for a big guy. It's clear he's got to work on his pitch selection and identification but has potential. He just looks like a hitter at the plate. some video of Wallace: http://vupload.facebook.com/video/?id=1382945217 Had a chance to check out the River Bandits game yesterday and came away quite impressed with Wallace.
