UPDATE: I may be around even more. It’s doubtful I lose power, and I have no idea when I’ll be going back to work right now.
As I’m sure you already heard, there’s a lot of flooding in Cedar Rapids and really all over Iowa. Thank God, I live in a nice, dry and cozy place of town, but you never know how these things will effect power, cable and whatnot. Roarke and AZ will hold the fort down in my absence, I am sure. Hopefully, there will be no absence, because talking baseball would be a nice escape right now. It’s some pretty strange and sad times here now, but it’s awesome to see people come together as a community to help one another. And thankfully to this point despite all the devastation, I’ve not heard of any deaths. I just hope the towns can recover from this…it’s just unbelievable.

Stay dry out there. Luckily in central iowa it hasn’t been near as bad. I assume the vet is under water? What do the kernels do in the mean time?
Be safe.
in my prayers bro
Yikes. Take care of yourself, erik.
We’ve been thinking about you and all the Cedar Rapids residents, Erik. Hell broke loose here in Iowa City last night….the levee near the Coralville Strip broke and the strip is completely flooded. It really is amazing to see everybody come together to help sandbag and protect the businesses and homes. God Bless.
WOW - I had no idea it was that bad - my first thought was New Orleans after Katrina hit - we will keep y’all in our prayers
From what I’ve heard, downtown Des Moines is just as bad. I’m in Marshalltown, so we’re a mile or two away from the Iowa River, which is the only thing protecting us at this point. They’ve closed several roads to and from town, but luckily none of the town has flooded yet (my basement sump pumps have been running for about 2 weeks straight though, and they’ll probably continue so until the end of June I’d imagine).
Speaking of having one’s life messed up by unreasonable aquatic things, the Associated Press reports that Mitch Harris, the midshipman drafted by the Cardinals, was denied release from his Navy obligations and ordered to report for duty, on the grounds that we are at war.
hope you’re ok, waltdub. i’ve been seeing the coverage, it’s looking as horrid as it was here yesterday.
Flew over that area last night coming back from Washington (state) via Minneapolis. The extent of flooding is astounding and I wish you all the best. We in Missouri will be dealing with it shortly also.
Hope you’re doing well, erik.
