I’m sure as you all have heard already by now, Tim Beckham to the Rays. Buccos up next, and are expected to “Vote for Pedro”. All of their wildest dreams come true. (Sorry for the well overplayed Napoleon Dynamite reference, I can’t help myself.)
Well, I am way too excited for this to go down. This is better than Festivus. Expect reaction from myself, fewgoodcards and maybe AZ and Roarke will be chiming in as well. Let’s do this!!!

About time, I’ve been waiting a year for this. Still have an hour to go until the Cards pick though.
Why do they have these guys on the set??????? At least Law and Callis will be on.
Yeah, I wish Gammons and Phillips would just stop yakking. Let’s get a move on.
Is it a 2:10 start like the baseball game? Let’s get this on!
I’m laughing at Law’s Best Available at the bottom. The need to put a Kiper-wig on him, that would be hilarious.
Now it’s time for Selig to self-congratulate himself. …….
My money is on Brett Wallace at #13
Bud glued to the teleprompter much?
Man, they really run down the full five minutes? What a waste of time.
It should be like a fantasy draft: the pick is decided and the clock restarts.
And a shocker with the first pick! Am I the only one that heard or was surprised by Karl Ravich saying “an African American.” Um, ok.
yeah, that is stupid. and he seemed to give Law some crap, too.
I hate Steve Phillips. I know ‘hate’ is a strong word, but I feel strongly about it.
Posey still on the board
he will still be on the board after the next two picks too
Thus far I’m really disappointed with the coverage. Selig is awful, everyone but Callis and Law are awful, the venue is awful……not expecting it to look like the NFL draft, but at least make it look like you didn’t rush to put this all together in the last week……
The Pirates stepping up to the plate. Alvarez may be a Cardinal killer in a couple of years. I feel good for Pittsburg taking this guy.
What do you guys think Selig is doing backstage during the five minutes between picks?
My guess: coke lines off Minnie Mouse’s tummy.
I was shocked at the “African American” comment
Anyways, I’m calling Melville at 13
I think he is standing in for Abe Lincoln in the presidents ride at D-World.
So far it has been a great idea to talk to these guys over the phone.
Picklefork: that’s a good one. Imagining Bud in a stovepipe had and beard is pretty funny.
Hasn’t anyone ever told Bud you’re not supposed to speak from a podium with your hands in your pocket?
Law is reporting that there is a 90% chance the Cards take Wallace at 13.
Keith Law is using me as his source…so dont believe him.
j.k
well thats disappointing
Funny. I don’t doubt that at all, pickle. I don’t think you can forecast the 13th pick until we see what happens in front of the Cards. Someone always falls because of signability.
keith law five or five in predicting draft picks
Wow. This whole broadcast is a total and utter mess.
it was too painful - turn it off and watch the tracker with the game in the background
Who was the 5th pick?
Did you guys like my idea of ESPN incorporating the Scripts Spelling Bee and the MLB Draft.
If you win the Bee…you then get to make the podium selections on draft day.
You get to come up, say who the pick is. Spell it, use it in a sentence, give the origin and then a defintion.
Way for ESPN to merge the 2 into 1 big extravaganza!
the spelling bee has much better production value……no way espn is compromising that by merging the two…..
Crap I can’t keep up with all Erik’s new threads.
Yonder, man I hope Gordon falls to us.
alonso to reds! beckham still there
Now to pray for Crow.
and there he went
bye bye blackbird..
who’s singing it though…
Boy do i love the astros front office!!!!!!!!
looks like the cards will definitely end up with a nice pick… lawrie, friedrich, wallace all there.
what a joke the astros organization is. I hope they get a bread fruit basket from selig for that
smoak as well
so wallace was higher than friedrich, I find that surprising
wallace at 13. solid. callis says they’ll run him out there as a 3rd baseman but doesn’t think he’ll stick there. law thinks he was the best pure bat in college. says he’s well ahead developmentally of other left handed hitters.
