SS Niko Vasquez. Great pick here!

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.
Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

OMG a high school player.
Old friend Kyle Russell couple picks later to Dodgers.

Good video of Vasquez here
Only thing I don’t like about Niko is he is a little old for his class, just like Kozma was.
He was ineligible at one time in HS, no options?
Chris Carpenter to the Cubbies…
What happened to Russell this year? Was he injured?
no he just sucked
The only thing I don’t like about Niko is his swing, his footwork at shortstop, his makeup, and his approach at the plate. Other than that, great pick!
from what ive read the only negative that everyone agrees on is he lacks speed, but that doesnt hurt him in the field, and problems in mechanics, which can be fixed. Im not thrilled nor am i upset. Meh.
Kevin Goldstein (4:15:19 PM PT): Dodgers take Kyle Russell in the 3rd. Going back to school cost him a lot of money. Cardinals would have paid more.
So that uproar last summer over the Cards’ cheapness was all for nothing?
Some folks accused them of cheapness, but the legitimate issue was that they took safe picks in the early rounds where the new draft rules protected the picks, and then used their first non-protected pick on a guy whose demands they didn’t want to meet.
Perfect Game on Niko
“Niko Vasquez is a 2008 SS/3B/2B with a 6′0”, 175 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Durango HS. Live body, lean strength. Polished defender, outstanding arm strength, has some flash. Fluid swing, low effort, quick to the ball, projects power, more bat speed with more strength, Pujols hitting style, can wait on off speed. Potential offensive middle infielder. High ceiling talent”
Pujols hitting style..good style to try:)
I really like this pick..at worst he becomes a offensive 2B.
There goes Melville to the Royals.
fan of this pick…big time fan
cpebbles, smart teams/businesses don’t “meet demands,” they negotiate. Sometimes negotiations are fruitful, sometimes they aren’t.
