It’s official. Perez up, Izzy to the DL, down with Charlie Brown’s Disease. Hat tip to cardsfan1, who called this last weekend. I usually save transactions like this for the DFR’s, but Perez to St. Louis is a relatively big deal.

From Goold today:
“Perez loves his slider, and the Cardinals during spring training stressed to him that he could have better success with a curveball. ”

Don’t remember hearing that this spring. Anybody know if he ditched the slider completely, or is he throwing two breaking pitches?
He was mixing in the curve a few times in Spring Training. No way he would ditch his slider, though, as it is a plus plus pitch.
All hail our new “Over Lord “!
I knew about this last night but was given stern instructions as to not post this lol.
I’m sad because Izzy is one of my fantasy closers. I’m happy for the Cards and Cards fans, however, as we’re starting to have VIABLE prospects to call up in times of need. Now keep the ball in the zone, Chris, but not TOO much in the zone.
CF1, not that it wasn’t obvious to t he rest of us when he didn’t pitch in the 12 inning game.
Hugo, I know, thats what I said, but I was just following “orders”
Let’s hope they use Perez as a set-up man before throwing him right into the fire.
Now all we need Rasmus to get on a roll.
It’s quite clear this Cardsfan1 is a member of the organization!
By the way, we’re dedicating an entire blog post to Chris Perez getting called to St. Louis, but there’s just a minor mention about the sudden retirement of Cory Meachem?!
Good Debut by Perez tonight, he sawed off that bat and got a nice K. He was confusing the FSN gun though, it has never registered above 95 for any cardinal before, it didn’t know how to handle it….j/k
