The Cards were on the hook for $10M to Edmonds and the Padres are paying at least part of that now. So we got a financial savings and a nice prospect out of the deal. Also, I'm not sure that listing him for San Diego is actually a mistake - BP doesn't try and keep up with offseason moves when doing their PECOTA projections. The book usually has players listed with the organization they played with the previous year. Better than free, actually. Thanks for pointing out the mistakes. With Edmonds being released by the Padres, that means the Cards essentially got David Freese for free. I too was confused by the Baseball Prospectus article. Let's say he puts up another two months of solid pitching at AAA, does anything think he gets the call if an injury or spot started happened? Garcia is looking like Tony and Dave’s kind of pitcher.
