Please accept my apology for the brevity of this intro - I am trying to write it in between tornado warnings and I half expect the power to go out at any minute. So, with no further ado, the system went 0-3 on the day (Quad Cities had the day off) and all the details are after the jump.
- The Salt Lake team deserves a tip of the cap. They’ve got a really good team and, except for Monday’s game, they thoroughly punished Memphis’ pitching. 29 runs scored over a four game series is a whipping.
- Tonight Blake Hawksworth felt Salt Lake’s wrath, giving up 8 runs (only five earned) in five innings on seven hits, five walks (ouch) and a hit batsman. Blake did strike out five guys.
- Mark Worrell followed Hawksworth and managed to hold Salt Lake to one run in his 1.2 innings, even though he gave up five hits and a walk. He also struck out a pair.
- Chris Perez struck out two in his inning of work, giving up a hit and a walk.
- On the offensive side, well, no one did much of anything. Colby was 0-3 with a walk and Brian Barden was 2-4 with a stolen base.
- Bryan Anderson’s AAA career is not off to the best start. He went 0-4 and had two passed balls.
- Adam Daniels got the start tonight and went 4.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks.
- Hopefully Allen Craig pulled himself out of his slump with a two run homer in the first inning. He finished 2-5 with three rbi.
- Shane Robinson went 1-5 and threw out a runner at the plate from LF.
- Jon Jay went 3-4 with a sac fly, two rbi and two runs scored.
- Tyler Greene was 1-4 with two runs scored. He also committed an error in the field with two outs in the seventh inning. NW Arkansas went on to score six runs after the error (including a grand slam) and that was the ballgame.
- Fernando Salas pitched 1.2 innings in relief and did not give up a hit, walking one and striking out 3.
- Josh Dew was the unfortunate victim of Tyler Greene’s error, although he has to shoulder much of the blame since he walked two and gave up a homerun, double and single after the error. In all he gave up one earned run on five hits, two walks and a balk in his inning of work.
- Nick Webber gave up a run on two hits and a walk in an inning of work and Luke Gregerson pitched a perfect inning.
- Daryl Jones was on base twice out of the leadoff spot, getting a hit and a walk but, like last night, he didn’t score any of the team’s runs. That’s seven times on base in two games with no runs scored. Odd.
- Man, Myth and Legend Steve Hill went 1-4 with a solo homerun.
- James Rapoport went 1-3 with a double and two rbi and threw a runner out at the plate from CF.
- David Carpenter went 2-4 with a double.
- Mark McCormick lasted 4.1 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out five.
- Brad Furnish went three innings and gave up a run on four hits. He struck out four.

According to the box score, Jay was 3-4, Craig was 2-5, Greene was 1-4, etc.
Salt Lake’s as good a AAA team as I’ve seen.
Anderson definitely had a rough day behind the plate. One of the passed balls was a close call between WP/PB, the other was unquestionably a passed ball. They stole two bases on him, but to be fair, Reggie Willits steals on anybody.
He also got robbed of what should have been a hit — fly ball to shallow center that the CF barely made a diving catch on.
That was a real tough error on Greene. We were surprised that was the way they scored it. Craig’s HR was a blast. About 450 feet off the scoreboard in left center. Dew was all over the place with location. Very good movement though.
Hill has 10 K’s in his last 19 AB’s.
