3 of the five steals anderson allowed last night were stole off the pitcher. he did however have an error on a throw to second. however both garcia and mortensen have not been afraid to throw breaking balls in the dirt. after everything i have read about his defense i was actually impressed with that part of his game.

I was hoping that Melville’s stock would drop a bit so that he would be available for the Cards. I am going to try and get out and see one of his starts, but I am having a hard time finding the Wentzville baseball schedule.

Oh, and if Posey was still on the board (and I don’t expect him to) the Cardinals would have to scoop him up swiftly.

Yeah, I know. I sent them a photo from about a year and a half ago. I’m quite a bit thinner now, but at the time I thought, “Eh, it won’t matter, this one will be fine.”. Then I actually saw it, of course, and I freaked out a little. It also doesn’t help I was wearing a hat; with the cropping, it just looks like the top of my head is pyramid shaped. Oh well, it was still really cool to see the site getting some publicity.

They did a nice job, though, with really limited space. Margaret, the lady who interviewed us, was originally promised a significantly larger space, but it kept getting whittled down further and further. Still, it came out okay. Hopefully it gets some new people interested in the sites. That’s all I really care about.

Mortensen just keeps looking better and better. I have to think he’ll be in line for a midseason promotion to AAA; following Garcia up the ladder. I think it will be very interesting to see how the Cardinals try to make roster space for them, given the lack of real prospects in that Memphis starting corps. We all know the Cards love their quad A journeyman starters; what do they do when faced with having to move those guys aside to make room for actual future contributors?

I’m pretty disappointed in Rosales’s performance so far; he’s not showing anything resembling the freakish control he had last year. If he can’t get back to not walking pretty much anyone, he’s still an interesting arm, but not at all what I thought he could be. I’m a sad panda.

Erik, in that Saber-scouting mock draft, Kiley has the Cardinals taking Tim Melville. Frankie stopped his at 11 from I can see, but Scheppers and Posey are still on the board.
