Major props go out to Kurt Hunzeker, artist and Mizzou grad for giving us a fresh new banner and logo for the site. I love the striped socks look, very minors oriented.
I highly recommend him, if you are ever needing some graphics work.

The logo is awesome. But what is with the green font?
It will take some getting use to but I realy like it.
the green font is wordpress. this was the best template i could find with a customizable header. just think of the green grass or green walls on/in a ballfield
I absolutely dig the logo. Sort of retro while also seeming somehow futuristic? Neat. Especially love the birds on ball.
Green doesn’t bother me. This is sharp.
New look for the site looks great!
i like the banner, not a big fan of the rest of the changes.
The banner is cool, but the old format seemed a lot more dynamic. This is really– for lack of a better word — wordpressy.
I agree. nice banner but definitely prefer the old format. very wordpressy and blah.
the masthead is very nice, the only suggestion i have (warning: designerspeak forthcoming) is to fully-justify batavia and memphis in their respective boxes by increasing the kerning (space between the letters). since springfield, palm beach, quad cities and johnson city pretty much take up the whole of their boxes, making memphis and batavia do the same would balance out the image and make the white space not so glaring.
actually, i’m with mdarshan here… that change would help the logo. totally understand what kurt was doing, it just made the names look a bit off-kilter.
Banner is great….Need a different template though. No sure what WordPresses options are though.
WordPress’s options are extremely limited, this was the actually the best I could do after several tries. This new banner is different. No baseballs, but maybe a little cleaner with all the affiliates listed out, as some of you pointed out earlier.
All in all the other WP template had more functions, but I guess I’m willing to sacrifice some of that. Until I quit being a cheap fart and switch to wordpress.org and have custom CSS, this template was the best i could find. I miss the 2 columns, though.
This is gonna come off a-hole-ish I’m afraid… =\ I really like the banner… But I’d recommend designing the banner around the site instead of the site around the banner. People come for the content.
Any way of making the city names link to the teams’ official sites? That’d be cool.
I’m with the guys who like the logo, but the rest looks a little drab. Of course the content is A+ as always!!!
Instead of two sidebars there is now one. Other then that, I don’t think it’s all that drastic. With WordPress, you have templates. I’m not a web designer, if I were I’m sure it would be better but I gotta work with what they have available.
I’m afraid I agree with Matt. It’s the kind of thing I hesitate to mention because it’s really the content/community that I come here for and I don’t want to sound unappreciative. The banner is a lovely stand alone image, but it should have been designed to work with the existing site design if there was nothing wrong with the design. It shouldn’t be the other way around.
I really think you all have no idea that it’s a free blog. all i pay for is the domain name, that comes to like 15 bucks. the original site only allows to customize colors. you can’t redesign any of the templates, other then image headers. i will try and find a template that allows for more function, but not much has really changed. everything is on one sidebar instead of two.
Sorry to make you scroll!
Holy crap that’s awesome
ok guys, by tonight i hope there will be another template, with three columns that hopefully will work better.
Any chance you could link the names in the logo to the each teams web site?
Whoops. I read to fast. Sorry someone else already had the same idea about linking the names in the logos.
Anyways great site.
Nice. I especially like the brown immature cardinals in the logo. Nice touch.
