• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

DPR 3/15/08

John Vuch, Director of Minor League Operations, has been kind enough to include me in the loop of the game reports happening down at the minor league camp. Yes, ladies and gentleman, the DPR’s start early. It’s like Christmas in November.

Memphis 4, New Orleans 5

  • Joe Rogers, who throws the occasional knuckleball, went 3 innings, allowed no runs on 2 hits and no walks, striking out 2.
  • Blake Hawksworth allowed a run on 2 hits and 3 walks, K’ing 4 over 2.2 IP.
  • Former 2nd round pick and sinkerballer Nick Webber allowed a run on 2 hits over 2 innings. I am still holding out hope for Webber, but his career 1.38 K/BB is less then inspiring.
  • This time last year, Dennis Dove was the camp darling by throwing 97 MPH sinkers. Now coming back from shoulder issues, he got blew up 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk. He retired only one batter.
  • 2 players holding on tightly to what remains of their career were the hitting starts. Reid Gorecki was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Mike Ferris had 2 hits and an RBI.
  • Gabe Johnson doubled and drove in 2.

Springfield 2, Birmingham 2

Palm Beach 4, St. Lucie 1

  • Small school find Brian Broderick threw 3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit per. A master of his domain, Broderick had 53 K’s to 7 BB 67 innings between Johnson City and Batavia.
  • Logan Collier picked up the W, allowing 1 hit over 2 IP.
  • Armando Carrasco threw 2 scoreless. A worm burner, Carrasco had a 59% groundball rate over 80.2 innings between JC and the QC.
  • The toolsy Thomas Pham has been on fire. He homered twice over the past 2 games. Today he went 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.
  • FR fan fave Steven Hill went 3 for 4.
  • Infielder Brandon Johnson, formerly in the White Sox system, went 2 for 2.
