• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Minor League Rosters — sort of

Derrick Goold has a look at potential minor league assignments for the farm system.  These are the lineups for the minor league camp so it’s nothing definitive — just how things have shaken out to date. Some interesting observations:

  • Whither Tyler Greene.  He appears to have been leapfrogged by Jose Martinez who is in the Memphis lineup.  The Cardinals have been aggressive with Martinez although he’s shown growth at nearly every level.  I’m still not sold on him as an everyday shortstop but he’s a position player that’s moved surprisingly fast through the system.
  • Reid Gorecki should expect to lose his starting job to Rasmus.  All signs point to Rasmus starting in AAA from what I’ve read thus far.
  • Rauschenberger to AAA as a starter or reliever?
  • Anderson appears ticketed for Springfield.
  • Could we see Tyler Henley skip to Palm Beach after just 30 at bats in the QC last year?  I’m hoping Henley goes to QC so that I can see him play.
  • Adam Daniels to stay at AA it would appear.  I think he’s better suited to the pen where he could add a few mph and focus exclusively on his fastball-slider combo.

It’ll be interesting to see how the pitching shakes out since that seems to be even more crowded than the minor league outfield situation.

  1. i don’t think henley will go to palm beach. i think you will see shane robinson slide down from that springfield roster to take the center field job for palm beach with henley going back to the QC.

  2. I´s say 30%-40% of the players on those list will actually play at a lower level once demotions are made and it starts a domino effect. Don´t forget there are still about 40+ players in big league camp.

Adam Danials to stay at AA? He´ll be lucky if he stays in the organization

  3. Early in Spring training they play guys who are on the bubble more then the guys who are sure to make a Club because the need to release guys.

  4. Not that it necessarily means anything, but Tyler Greene was taking BP with the AA team today along with Jon Jay and Allen Craig. Meanwhile, David Freese was taking BP with the AAA team.

  5. how did greene look? i know its just BP, but i think he got a couple of hits yesterday in the game. it sure would be nice to see him have a big year.

  6. Unfortunately, I missed seeing him actually hit (along with most of the other guys I actually wanted to see). I was by the AA practice field and Ian Church, Mark Shorey, and others were taking their turn, so I went to the other fields to see who was up (single A pitchers were hitting and AAA was wrapping up a bit early) and then when I went back to the AA field Greene and Craig were by the cage but must have already finished. I probably missed most of the interesting stuff early because Pujols, Juan Gone, Glaus, and Ludwick were taking BP on the big league practice field, so I watched all of that.

  7. According to convesations with Henley last year the organizations belief when they first signed him was that his first full season would be in Palm Beach. With that in mind I’m not shocked that’s where he’s listed right now. On the other hand considering his limited performance at QC last year I wouldn’t be shocked if they start him back at QC.

  8. i don’t think henley will go to palm beach.

  9. I was wandering if players advance if teams don’t have big money invested. I’v been to afew minor league games and seesome of these high draft choices look bad. I watch their stats. they get moved up while other players have better stats. stay behind. Same amount of games played lower draft pick
