• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

FR fantasy league?

I’ve been waffling back and forth on whether or not to play fantasy baseball this year. I’ve never played, but I thoroughly loved the book Fantasyland, and I’ve been enjoying the Fantasy February podcasts from BP. I figure what the hey. I’m willing to give it a go and embarrass myself.

I’m looking for a league to join, or if someone wants to start a FR league, let me know. If we actually do it, I want to make sure it’s not something people give up participating in by July.

  1. Just make it for money and people won’t give up mid Summer. I’m looking for one more league so if others here want to start a $20-25 league I’d be game.

  2. I’m game. D.GOOCH

  3. If it’s not for money i’ll play in it. I am a hardcore fantasy player so I wont quit in the middle.

  4. i would be in for money

  5. I am doing the VEB one, there might be more room in that one for you though.

  6. I’d be in, sure. I’d be okay with some chump change on the line.

It’d be cool if there were others from C or E Iowa, so we could even meet up at a Redbirds game in Des Moines. (4/24 - 4/26, Rasmus plays in Iowa!!!)

  7. I’ll play. I’d prefer playing for free, but I’m down even if there’s a fee.

  8. Addendum: The more I think about this idea, the more I like it.

I wanted to join another league this year, but the VEB league doesn’t really appeal to me on account of how large the community is. I think I’d prefer to play in a smaller community….something FR would be perfect for right now.

Plus, it seems like FR gets a few more baseball intensive readers rather than marginal fans or just plain homers.

  9. I’d be interested.

I’m in a league every year where half the teams don’t touch their lineup after the draft, and never even respond to trade requests. It gets very annoying after a while.

  10. I’ll play, for money or free, and it would great to play in a league where people actually pay attention to their team all the way through the year.

  11. I went ahead and set up a yahoo league. Thought I’d do so just to get the ball rolling on this. We can discuss format, payment, etc. I’d suggest a 12 team, rotisserie format with a $20 league fee. We could send all the money to Erik as I think we can all agree he’d be a reputable holder (assuming he chooses to participate in the league).

Other details will be hammered out once the league is filled.
