News clippings from spring training regarding the Cardinals’ top prospects.
Leach has all kinds of tidbits.
-
Kyle McClellan is moving back to the rotation. Seems like a sensible move what the current depth with right handed relievers, and McClellan has four workable pitches, so he seems better suited for starting anyway.
-
Jarrett Hoffpauir is working with the big league middle infielders while D’Angelo Jimenez is working with the outfielders and minor league infielders. That bodes well for the Hoff in the long run. The clubs sees him more than just filler, while Jimenez is what he is-AAA roster filler.
-
Palm Beach native Tyler Herron was brought into camp, as was Stuart Pomeranz.

Per Goold at Birdland, the Cards invited a couple of international players to minor league camp. Denes Simonyi of Hungary and Jai Jul Chung of South Korea. Simonyi is a 21 right handed catcher. He’s coming at the Mad Hungarian himself’s intervention. Here’s his page for the Szentendre Sleepwalkers. Chung is a 26 yr. old RHP.

I like what Leach has to say about Hoffpauir. Ryan, not so much.
What is a “26 RHP”? 26 years old?
I didn’t realize fewgoodcards would be joining the writing team. Congrats.
The Sleepwalkers?!
Now THAT’S the kind of team names we need more of!
