• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Jaime Garcia looking to impress

Per Kary Booher

The St. Louis Cardinals have invited Springfield Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia to big-league camp, the latest sign that their 21-year-old prospect remains a strong commodity despite being shut down last July.

Garcia told The News-Leader late Wednesday night that he received the call about the invite on Tuesday, and “I didn’t know what to say,” Garcia said. “I was so excited.”

Jaime’s CHONE projected ERA over 21 big league starts-4.96, .13 higher then Mulder’s projection.

Jaime’s ZiPS projected ERA is 4.65 over 24 starts, which is better then what ZiPS sees for Mulder, Thompson, Looper and Pineiro by a decent margin.

I’m not saying he’ll break camp with the big league club or that he should by any means, he has some things to work on first. But I’m excited he’ll be able to have his chance now to impress.

  1. i just hope he is healthy this year, and if his elbow is sound i think you will see him get back to the fantastic control he showed in 2006 instead of the walk machine he was last year.

  2. I hate to sat it, but he will need elbow surgery. I am betting something pops during spring training. That said it wouldn’t be the end of the world as he would have time to recover and could be a solid contributor in late 2009 as a swing man and a starter 2010.
