• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

River Bandits it is

Boo. I wanted Channel Cats. Took them long enough to decide on renaming the Swing.

qcrbprimaryarticle.jpg

Although, for anyone who’s ever been to Davenport will probably say the bridge is a nice touch. I’m not crazy about the raccoon, but it beats the baseball with a bandanna thingy they had before. My wife hated the stupid monkey they had before with the Swing.

Sorry for the recent content drought, I have some ideas I’m working on. Let me know if there’s any ideas you’d like to see over the next few weeks.

  1. As someone who does a lot of camping but doesn’t own a dog, I can tell you that I absolutely hate raccoons.

    Catfish are delicious, though.

  2. That raccoon is up to something. I’m not sure what, but I intend to find out.

  3. i think he stole that baseball! stop him!!!

  4. that’s why he looks familiar… He’s the baseball version of the hamburglar. The stripes.. the hat… the sneaky, covetous look…

  5. Robble, robble.

  6. Since you asked for suggestions, I’d like a write-up about
    Ryde Rodriguez. Thanks.

  7. Damn raccoons!

  8. The Raccoon stole my Cardinal logo, oh no.

  9. Ideas..

    1. Breakdown the effects of trades on other clubs farm systems. For example, the trade of Cabrera and Willis to the Tigers kicked off a storm of protestation on some sites with people claiming the Cardinals could have supplied players of equal worth to those Detroit handed over. Maybe we could have done however handing over that talent would have killed our farm given it’s current state. What did it do to the Detroit system? My instinct is that it made their system no worse than ours and that’s why Detroit could really afford the trade and the Cards couldn’t.

    2. With the year about to turn and ST only weeks away let’s start looking to next season. I’d love to see what the knowledgable people on this site would project as an effective season for each prospect to keep them on course to acheive the level we expect them to acheive. It would also give us something to look back on come the end of the season and judge a prospects progress.

  10. here you go…

  11. Maybe here…

no img tags in comments i guess?

  12. being from the quad city area, and having gone to river bandit games growing up, I can say that I am happy with the name change. Additionally, on a warm July evening, there may be no more beautiful minor league stadium to watch a game at than at john o’donnell.

  13. Is there any historical significance to raccoons stealing stuff by the river? Just curious.

  14. adam…i agree, JOD is a very nice park. I see they not only changed the team name, but now the park is called the Modern Woodman Park. That’s a step back, stupid corporate sponsorships.

  15. Rockin’ the Red: Here’s the story. Obviously davenport lies on the Mississippi River, but in the early 19th century, when Davenport was then known as Fort Armstrong, the town was rampant with bandits trying to get in on the fur trade. Colonel Davenport, from whom the town was named, was beaten to death by a group of river bandits who thought he had a fortune. So, there’s quite the history of river bandits in davenport and the quad cities. As for the raccoons: they’re everywhere! They just inhabit neighborhoods, parks, and any of the undeveloped land in the quad cities (of which there is a lot) In undergrad, I would consistently run into raccoons walking back late from the library or from a party. And they were mean. I hope that explains some of the choices here.

  16. god job on the history of davenport Adam. And living in Davenport I can tell you those raccoons are everywhere, I have 3 of them that hang around my house on a regular basis getting on my deck looking for stuff to get into crazy critters
