• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Barton has to be higher then #22, the number we are currently on. But where? Vote here for where you think he fits. Is he #4? #9? #16? Just throwing random numbers out there, just tell me in the comments where you think he fits.

If you voted for him at #22, then don’t worry about it. I can delete it, and we’ll resume the voting for # 22 tomorrow.

  2. I would put him at 14.

  3. Just a guess, I’d say 8.

  4. 5

  5. No. 11 …….. between Kozma and Martinez.

  6. yeah, i would say pretty high. This guy was the number 5 prospect in a pretty good Inidans system last year, and has torn the cover off the ball everywhere he’s been (save Buffalo the second half of this year - where I believe he was struggling with a knee injury). I would probably put him 4.

  7. I should throw in the caveat, though, that he has been older than his competition pretty much everywhere he has been. but this is a 5 tool guy who has a track record of success. Can’t say that about too many of our position players.

  8. #9 - the second best hitter in our system.

  9. Errr, I’m dumb…number 3 ranked hitter.

  10. 13, he’s better than mather, but his age is a big concern

  11. 8…I’d slot him right between Boggs and Craig.

  12. 9, right before Craig if I had to make a quick judgement, I will have to look more in depth later.

  13. Because of how close he is, and because of his on base ability and speed…. #5.

  14. The benefit of the doubt says #8

  15. 9

  16. he cant crack our top 5. anywhere 6 to 12 sounds good.
9 is right in the middle of that range

    So 9

  17. I think 6 is about right for his level and age.

  18. Should he be in here at all? If he makes the club he will be on the 25 man roster. Doesn’t that make him a member of the big club and not a prospect? Of the current list I would say Perez and Hoffpauir have shots at the 25 man next year.

Having said that I’d stick him in at 6.

  19. id put him right behind mortenson at 7

  20. I would say 5. His ‘07 numbers were down with the injury, but when he was healthy in ‘06 he was unbalievable.

  21. #10

  22. 9

  23. Not in the top 20. Recovering from injury. AAA numbers were not very good in 2007. Why did the Indians leave him exposed??

  24. I’d put him at 8, right between Mortensen and Boggs. If he were a few years younger I think you could look at him as early as 4.

  25. 4

  26. #5

  27. I’d have to go with him at 11 not higher based on Kozma’s rating. I think Kozma should still be higher than Barton, but I do think Barton should be higher than Craig. Due to Barton’s age and the fact that he is coming off an injury I think 11 is the spot for him. He is definitely more talented and displayed more production than Martinez (who I really like).

  28. No one is being realistic. Remember, this player was not good enough to be on Cleveland’s 40 player roster. Further, 9 teams passed on him in front of the Cards. He was not the first player drafted from Cleveland. Seldom do Rule 5 players stick. Our pick was a shortstop who has been gone so long we can’t remember his name!

  29. Barton at #14 since we don’t know if he’ll come back 100% from surgery.

  30. 13

  31. 8
