Dennis Dove is off the 40 man roster. That’s a shame. I had high hopes for Dove after a great showing last season in Palm Beach, and a great spring training. Guys who can throw 97 MPH sinkers are hard to come by. His max effort delivery finally caught up with his shoulder, who knows when or if he will recover. From what I have heard, Dove is a real nice guy. He made it to the bigs and appeared in just 3 games. Hopefully he makes it back someday.
- Stuart Pomeranz finally allowed a run after 10 innings. He gave up the run on three hits and a walk, striking out no one over 4 innings of work. He threw 48 pitches, 27 for strikes while having 5 ground outs to 6 fly outs. All three hits he surrendered were singles. I’d like to get excited about Pomeranz’s showing in the AFL, but he has 5 walks to 3 K’s in 14 IP.
- Jarrett Hoffpauir went 1 for 5.
- Mark Hamilton went 0 for 2 with 2 walks.
- Colby Rasmus went 2 for 4 with a 2 walks and a steal. Both of his hits were doubles. That kid is a machine right now.
- Bryan Anderson doubled, going 1 for 4 with a walk and a K.

I am getting excited about Pomeranz’s performance. I am attributing his low K ratio to the possibility that he is still working his way back from injuries. It usually takes a pitcher a little longer to get the velocity and break on pitches when a pitcher has been off as long as he has been.
Hamilton’s and Hoffpauir’s struggles are starting to worry me. I just hope that they may be tired from no break. It is encouraging to see them taking walks, but at some point in time you have to start hitting. Anybody have a clue about their struggles? I guess Hamilton’s struggles could be attributed to less experience against better competition?
Has the postseason roster been finalized yet? If not, when does that have to be completed? The only moves I’ve heard about are the callup of Mather and the demotion of Dove.
I think the deadline for protecting guys for the Rule 5 draft is 20 NOV.
