• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Daily Prospect Report 10/12/07

Mesa 4, Surprise 6

  • Joe Mather remained the DH for the Solar Sox going 2-for-3 with a BB. I’m waiting for his power to show up in Arizona.
  • Mark Hamilton went 0-for-4.
  • Jason Motte retired 3 batters between the 7th and 8th inning. He allowed 1 hit and a BB.
  • Kyle McClellan relieved Motte and allowed one of his two inherited runners to score.
  • I don’t know how big the stadium is or where it’s located but Arizona must hate baseball — they had 257 people in attendance today.

  1. I went to a few AFL games back about 10 years ago. 257 people then would have been a lot. The stadiums are the same ones they use for Spring training and they seat about 6,000 people I would guess. I would highly recommend the AFL for autograph seekers and those wanting to see the players up close. The stadiums are empty (I could have had at least 10 fould balls if I’d been willing to get up and walk 10-50 feet to pick them up off the stadium floor), autographs are easy and plentiful (people were taking pictures of players holding their baby), and there are VIPs to be seen and even talked to if one desires (Walt Jocketty was sitting by him self two rows up and my right - I could have sat down beside him and chatted with him if I’d wanted).

  2. The Mesa Solar Sox actually play in Ho Ho Kam park in Mesa, spring training home of the Cubs. I am actually going to a game the last week of the AFL season…

And AZ, this is the same area (Mesa, of course, being a suburb of Phoenix) that couldn’t sell out a NLCS game the other night, and made asses of themselves by throwing garbage on the field the other night.

I am not mad, I will enjoy sitting front row and watching some “future redbirds” play.
