To whom it may concern:

As you guys may know, I’m looking to work for a MLB Team’s scouting department and the Cardinals would be a great fit. Actually, on a MLB Jobs Board they have two scouting positions which they need to fill (one in NC, SC, Virginia area, the other one in Texas). I already applied online but I was wondering if anyone had a direct contact to Mr. Lunhow.

Of course, I haven’t been very kind to the Cards (see Kozma, Peter) but maybe they’ll appreciate my candor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A few of your comments reference some of the minor league FA’s we signed this past offseason. From the articles giving Mozeliak’s background, it sounds like one of his primary responsibilities has been picking the depth guys at AAA. He did a good job fallen stars like Ludwick and Bozied; but a terrible job adding depth at SP and catcher, especially, as you point out at the end.

I’d like to see split-contract offers to Jamey Wright and Todd Greene, penciled in for jobs at Memphis.

I have been thinkin about this. I can accept that the Cardinals take a measured approach to the draft if we start to spend like mad on international talent.

I can only hope.

I personnally wish they’d just done the surgery on Garcia and got it over with (easy for me to say!).

Does Morales’ start today light a fire at all for the organization. Garcia’s peripherals were better than Morales at the same level. I am not saying that he should be brought up in March, but I think he should be penciled in for ‘09.

I took a quote from yesterday’s press conference that I think fits better with this discussion (goold has it in print form on bird land now if you want to see it).

Q: Would you ever anticipated this crack in the front office coming to this?

DeWitt: Well, you never know what the repercussions of making a change are. I thought that first of all the model was the right one and that we had the personnel to fit the model. I don’t think it played out where we could sort of close the divide. There had been a divide anyway, from prior years. Not as sever as it became. We changed direction scouting-wise, amateur scouting that is. We changed direction with the draft. And we had been very inactive internationally. Fact I don’t think we have a player who is playing on our roster who we developed – I know we don’t – internationally. We didn’t really have any prospects who were coming up from our tenure here from the Dominican or Venezuela, or Columbia, or Panama or any of those areas. And I wanted to make a strong push to fix that. That was several years ago. We have an academy down there. We’ve got a lot of players. We’ve got a Gulf Coast League this year for the first time. Had some players rated in the top group of prospects in that league. Kids, 16, 17 years old. That’s a step in the right direction.

This to me shows that he is very committed to the minors now. What do you all think?
