• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

O the depths to which a first round draft pick can fall

Lambert was the PTBNL for Mike Maroth.  No great loss here as Lambert had made zero strides towards making himself a servicable pitcher of any kind.  Best of luck to the Tigers in trying to fix him.  The potential is there but I don’t think he’ll ever reach it.

[erik, chipping in his 2 rusty cents 2:00pm] Jumping Jiminy Jee ha! Maroth is probably toast. Then again, so is Lambert. No loss big loss here whatsoever.  Best of luck to Lambert, but I’m glad he’s kinda glad he’s gone. Mostly, I’m relieved it wasn’t someone of any real consequence.

  1. Watch him next year get called up and do good for the tiggers. But I do agree not a large loss at all and Maroth has the potential as well even if he isn’t playing to it right now.

  2. Quick little note from John Sickels bullet points at minorleagueball today -

*Quickest bat I saw on the trip belonged to Steve Hill of Quad Cities.

  3. Speaking of Chris Lambert—whatever happened to Jimmy Journell?

  4. My concern is, if the Tigers get a former 1st rounder who made it to AAA, what will Boston want for Piniero…especially since he’s been pretty solid (today not his fault, zero offense).

I really am surprised that Detroit got that much. Granted, he would have been released in the off season, I just hope this isn’t a sign of the PTBNL to Boston. Pineiro light years better results than Maroth, so hopefully won’t lose a prospect light years ahead of Lambert.

  5. lambert had a 7+ Era. and a horrid era in AA the 2 seasons before that. his velocity has been 85-90 the past season and a half. i don’t think this will embolden boston at all. besides, they have a list of who they can choose. i’m sure it isn’t a list packed special talents. i wouldn’t call lambert much, if anything. don’t let his draft status make you think others more talented are on the table when they are probably not.

  6. Eric, oh I know Lambert has basically sucked for awhile, I just figured Det would get someone we barely heard of who hadn’t ever shown anything ever based off of Maroth’s performance. And Lambert has show some potential, just not above A+ really, which is why what Boston will want makes me worry a little.

  7. STL and Detroit have basically exchanged pitchers that have no future in the MLB.

  8. Erik - any word, from any source, on who the 2 other pitchers that were on the list that Detroit made their choice from?

I heard scuttlebutt, when the deal first went down, that Dennis Dove was one of the pitchers listed.

  9. I can finally sleep!

  10. bb93–i’ve heard nothing, but then again have few to no real sources.
