• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

Deadspin: Ankiel gets the call

Link

Suddenly, the big club got a LOT more interesting. By far the best news I’ve heard all season. Go Rick.

  1. The Savior…

  2. Great! Now we can stop the yawn fest of everyone clamoring for him to get the call. Seriously, I wish him well, but its not the end all be all.

  3. of course it isn’t the end all, but it’s a nice story, something to cheer about. what’s wrong with that?

  4. I think the club’s done an excellent job handling the Ankiel situation. As a tangent to his callup, Colby Rasmus isn’t going to get promoted.

Luhnow deserves kudos for making the right decision when he could have moved Colby up. 1) Memphis already has a glut of OF, Colby needs as many ABs as possible. 2) Colby’s struggled. He’s still been very good for a 20 year old at AA but there’s no reason to push him when he simply hasn’t completely mastered AA yet. 3) I think it means a lot to Colby’s development and the Springfield team that he stay there for the playoffs. You won’t hear me talk about mental makeup often but I think it will be good for him to experience playoffs in professional baseball.

  5. Rick. Freaking. Ankiel. I don’t think he hit that home run with his bat, I think the ball hit his cup and flew 360 feet into the right field stands.

  6. Front foot swing on a curveball down and away?

I’d say the power is real, yikes. Nobody has any business hitting that pitch that hard.

  7. At the risk of sounding like a total wuss, I had tears in my eyes when I caught the replay of that. Stuff like that almost makes all the crappiness of the year seem like it never happened.

    Almost.
