The Swing picked up Jose Garcia from Batavia. Garcia played SS there so perhaps Kozma will take his spot. I wouldn’t have minded Kozma starting off at QC.
Rasmus gets a mental health day. Could someone find this kid the bat he was using in May?
July 27th is Harry Potter night at Autozone Park. When I went and saw the movie there were about a dozen 12 year old girls with Griffindor scarves on and capes. Isn’t it amazing how ingrained in modern culture Harry Potter has become in about 5 years. I could tell you who dies in the 7th book and a good portion of you would attempt to do me bodily harm. Just to test your self-control — here’s a spoiler site.
Chris Narveson get’s rocked. Bryan Anderson continues to hit. Johnson City blanks the opposition (kinda). It’s all here in the DPR-izzle.

- Bryan Anderson moved up to the 2 spot and went 4-for-5 with a double.
- Juan Richardson went 2-for-4 with a walk.

- Adam Daniels had an OK outing going 6.1 innings allowing 4 runs. He allowed 9 hits, walked 2 and struck out 3. He maintained that 11:4 GO:AO ratio that is his trademark.
- Nick Derba was the DH for the game and went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.
- Daryl Jones, dropped to the bottom of the lineup, went 2-for-3.

i didn’t click…but i’m thinking of picking up the last 2 books. i’ve only been watching the movies up to this point. sadly, my reading consists of baseball news and blogs. or baseball books. This book I have to give 2 thumbs up.
i did read lord of the rings, and all the chronicles of narnia, so i’m sure i have enough of a fantasy bone in me to read HP.
Hmm, is Mather backing up all 3 outfield spots as the 4th outfielder for the big club a viable option? Or is he more of a emergency CF guy at the big league level? At the least I would think if he can play CF for Memphis he has more range in a corner than, say, Duncan.
Granted I’ve only seen two games, but I’ve described Mather as a more graceful Duncan. Still, I don’t think he has the range to cover CF as more than an emergency option.
Erik, I would back up and read Order of the Phoenix, even if you have seen the movie. The last three are far darker and change the tone of the series. I didn’t care much for six, but that’s an opinion not shared by many others.
I’m on page 450 of seven right now, and I didn’t click above.
If you haven’t seen it, go over to BP’s unflitered and read Rany’s comparision of the Royals to Harry Potter characters.
More praise for Hamilton and Buckman at Baseball Prospectus ranking of 1B Prospects:
Age: 23.0
Hitting: .290/.348/.520 at High-A (60 G); .255/.321/.402 at Double-A (27 G)
A second-round pick out of Tulane last year, Hamilton’s power ranked with that anyone else in last year’s draft, and he was among the Florida State League home run leaders with 13 when he was pushed to Double-A, an aggressive assignment for a player in his first full year of play. Hamilton has struggled since the promotion, as more advanced pitchers have been able to get him to chase breaking balls, but he’s a true power threat from the left side. Still, it’s a bit of a mystery as to why he’s being moved so aggressively through the system when there are no opportunities for a first baseman at the big league level; they have some guy named Pujols there, who I hear is pretty good.
Keep An Eye On
Brandon Buckman, Cardinals: A 19th-round pick out of Nebraska last year, Buckman hit .341/.384/.590 for Low-A Quad Cities, but remained under the radar, with more than one pro evaluator asking me what I knew about him at last month’s Midwest League All-Star game. At 23, he was old for the level, and he’s struggled a bit since a promotion to the Florida State League, but at six-foot-six and 210 pounds, he’s an eye-catching talent with plenty of power from the left side, but an approach that needs work.
