You mentioned Anderson, but did you see that Ottavino was also in the “breaking into the top 100″ list? FYI

No Perez, which is a bit surprising to me, but I am more high on him than most probably. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have Cards in the top 100 after all of these years of one or two?

Forget the cheeseburgers, send him a can of crisco and a spoon. or some weightgain 4000. Beefcake… Beefcake! That boy must be hollow inside. I was sick for 2 weeks straight in college and ended up at 6′ 145lbs. My roommates thought I was going preparing to move to ethiopia. Theory for his success: Opposing batters probably flinch, thinking one of his appendages is going to detach and impale them.

In the Gulf Coast League boxscore, it looks like Carlos Gonzales threw three perfect innings. Then, in his fourth inning, he gave up the walk, hit, homer for his 3 ER.

The kid looks like a really interesting prospect. He’s listed at 6-3, 145, which is interesting enough on its own — I can’t even fathom those dimensions. I played high school football at 5-10, 145, and I usually thought I was the skinniest guy on the field.

But he also has given up just 12 hits and 6 BB in 23.2 IP, against 25 K. He turns 19 in 6 weeks.

The most interesting thing, though, is that he’s a fly-ball pitcher. Can the Cards deal with that? More important, will somebody feed that young man some cheeseburgers?

With all the pitchers now in Palm Beach, I’m hoping the Cards promote Ottavino for the playoff push. He seems to have the walk problem under control, and the SCards have a spot in the rotation for him. Rauschenberger is not going to be a playoff starter (I hope). Not very skilled on AA playoff formats, but I wouldn’t think more than four starters would be used. If that is the case, give Ottavino a shot now and a head-start on next year.
