• Amaury Marti Watch

Amaury Marti is currently hitting .424/.509/.633 in 39 games for the Mexican Red Devils of the Mexican League, also known as Liga de Amaury Cazana. Bud Selig ordered the Cardinals to banish him to there, in fear of the major leagues losing competitive balance.

Amaury also refuses to accept the watch curse. He has the power to curse, and the power to bless.

VSL Update

vsl-logo.gif

I figure since the VSL Cardinals are now 43 games into their schedule and only have about a month left to go, now is about as good of a time as any to take a look at how things are going down in Venezuela. I have to warn you, there’s not much to see here. The team is in 7th place overall, with a record of 14-29. Not one player has hit more then 1 HR all season, and the team has a whopping 3 homers total. 18 year old RHP pitcher Richard Castillo is the biggest bright spot on the team, he has 40 strikeouts in 40.1 innings and has walked 14 and has only allowed 18 hits. He has a microscopic 0.67 ERA to lead the league.

Gerardo Mannbel is the only hitter that resembles has shown any sort of offensive ability, he has a .429 OBP to go with a .282 batting average. His OBP is 4th in the league and his 31 walks is 2nd. 8 of his 40 hits have gone for extras, which isn’t saying much. Only Kleininger Teran (great name) has more extra base hits with 10. Tehran has hit .267/.389/.347 in 150 at bats. Mannbel has 10 errors in 42 games, playing primarily at shortstop. Teran plays third, he has 19 errors.

And that’s about it. Not much to get excited about at least performance wise, other then Castillo.
