- Mike McCoy draws the only walk.
- Edgar Gonzalez had the only extra base hit - a double.
- The Redbirds totaled 5 baserunners in 9 IP.
- Mike Parisi was solid going 8 innings allowing 3ER. He struck out 2 against 2 walks and 7 hits.
- Colby Rasmus appears to be all better. 2-for-4 with a walk and a SB.
- Jarrett Hoffpauir is begging for a promotion. He goes 2-for-3 with a double and 2 walks. He also stole a base tonight.
- Juan Richardson and Mark Hamilton both went yard.
- Cory Rauschenberger went 5.1 innings allowing 2 ER.
- Matthew Scherer had a crappy outing. He didn’t allow an earned run but he did allow 2 of 3 inherited runners to score via a walk and a single striking out just 1 batter. If I were the Tigers, Scherer would be one of the prospects I would have targeted in the Maroth deal — not really a big name in the Cardinals farm system he’s still had excellent results as a reliever.
- Jason Motte allowed an unearned run and a hit in an inning of work.
- Chris Perez picked up his 20th save with a scoreless inning. Unfortunately, he walked two batters in the process.
- Jon Jay goes 2-for-5 with a HR.
- Nathan Southard went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
- Allen Craig continues his hot hitting June with a HR and a walk in 4 plate appearances. He was also HBP.
- P.J. Walters is pitching like a madman in High-A. In two starts, he’s thrown 15 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on solo homeruns, 8 hits, walked 3 and struck out an eye-popping 18! He’s won both games at Palm Beach.
- Michael Cooper finished off the 9th allowing an earned run. He’s stunk at PB as much as he did in SPR.
- Christian Reyes went deep for the Swing’s only run.
- Chris Grossman drew the only walk for QC.
- Tim Dorn and Jared Schweitzer each had 3K games.
- Shaun Garceau got roughed up. 4 ER on 5 hits and 3 walks. 2 HRs allowed will do that to you.
- Eddie Degerman does not belong in Low-A. In 3.2 innings, he struck out 7 and walked 2 allowing 1 hit. Repeat, Degerman does not belong in Low-A.
- Steve Hill went 2-for-3 with 2 walks.
- Oliver Marmol and Antonio DeJesus also drew a pair of walks.
- David Kopp struck out 3 in 2 innings on 2 hits. . .
- . . .a whole bunch of pitchers got lit up in the middle innings. . .
- . . .and Josh Fritsche stopped the bleeding with 2 scoreless innings.
- 1B Charlie Pelt hit a HR.
- JC had 5 errors in this game. Dognnt had his 6th of the season (the season started a mere 9 days ago).
- Jose Arrendondo struck out 5 in 5 scoreless innings.
- Nicholas Additon did his best to blow the game walking 3 and allowing an earned run before being pulled.
- LaCurtis Mayes managed to strand all 3 inherited runners from Additon.
- Pete Parise struck out 2 in 1.2 innings allowing just a hit.
Looks like the GCL Cardinals got rained out against he GCL Mets.
Apparently, it’s difficult to get the box score up for these GCL teams. I didn’t post until after mindnight and the game still wasn’t up. Maybe they think no one cares, but damnit I care. And commenter FGC cares as he points out that the GCL Cardinals weren’t rained out.
- 3B Arnoldi Cruz recorded the only hit for the Cardinals.
- They did manage to draw 6 walks which is quite nice but you still have to hit the bloody ball.
- The pitchers put up some really boring box scores. Fabian Marquez was fine as a starter going 4 innings allowing 1 run. Pablo Ortiz pitched the ninth allowing 1 hit and a walk while striking out 1. Yawn.

What does Hoffpauir have to do to get promoted? I realize he’s repeating a hitter’s league, but come on, a .900 OPS is a .900 OPS.
GCL Cardinals didn’t get rained out, they didn’t play until last night so the boxscore was late getting up. however, they might as well have been rained out b/c they only picked up 1 hit a day after pounding out 14 runs.
Why don’t the GCL Cards have a website? I emailed milb.com a few days ago, but they haven’t gotten back to me. I suggest everyone pester them with emails until they put up a website for the GCL Cards.
