Congrats to Colby and Mr. Anderson, who were named to the US Futures roster. Here’s the US roster link for a full listing of the names.
Bryan Anderson is currently red hot, hitting .326/.388/.463 with 5 homers in 190 at bats. In his last 10 games he’s hitting .486 (18 for 37).
I need to get the Rasmus watch updated…anywho, he’s the opposite of hot, hitting a measly .532 OPS for the month of June after smoking the ball in May. His current line is .254/.347/.492 with 12 homers in 256 at bats. He’s also stolen 11 bases without getting caught.
[Update] Just surfing around, I read a headline at the Birdhouse that said infielder Jose Martinez was promoted to Springfield. Michael “the walking disaster” Cooper was demoted to Palm Beach. Martinez is a favorite prospect of mine, but he’s done nothing to help his stock this season. Martinez is hitting just .248/.285/.323 in 226 at bats. He’s walking in just 4% of his plate appearances, but is striking out in just 8.8% of his AB’s. That tells me his BA should rise some, but even if it does he’s shown no power or plate discipline to speak of. Furthermore, over 55% of the balls he has put in play are grounders. Just 13% of his BIP are liners. That’s a good way to sink your batting average. He has shown some pop in the past, hopefully he can rediscover that. Hammons Field may help, we’ll see how he fares against advanced pitching.
Also getting called up, Florissant native Kyle McClellan, who’s excelled in relief for Palm Beach.

“My name…. is Neo.”
Wasn’t Jaime a Futures Gamer last year? Pretty good prospect trio in Springfield.
Congrats to those two, both well deserved!
Btw, Jose Martinez and Kyle McClellan have been promoted to Springfield.
Looks like the Cards didn’t take AZ’s advice to move up Dan Nelson choosing Martinez instead. Nelson and his .370ish OBP were probably more deserving, but I wish Jose the best. We sure could use some good middle infield prospects.
