Pitchers rock! Pitchers rock! Pitchers rock! Dominant outings from Ottavino and Herron. Palm Beach scores enough runs for a week. And I’m glad Walt Jocketty went and got Mike Maroth. . .cause Ohka, well, Ohka has seen better days. Jim Rapoport acheives a dubious distinction and ‘Promote Hoffpauir’ is my chant for [...]

Thinking about Eddie Degerman being that he’s been recently promoted and I found this comment by our friend Carlos Gomez digging around at BTF (#90)
WOW, I mean WOW. Ok, that’s the Chad Bradford of high arm slots. Before I go and look at his stats, this is what I’ll say…. You know me, I [...]

I’m not seeing GCL Cardinals as playing today. . . too bad I can’t verify on a WEBSITE. Feel free to contact milb.com and let them know that Cardinal fans would like a GCL Cardinal website.
Johnson City had an off day and Palm Beach was postponed.
We’ve got a flurry of roster moves for you [...]

Good discussion going on this morning re: overrated and underrated Cardinal prospects. Be sure to chime in.
As promised, the second installment of Visualizing Pitchers we take a look at those pitchers currently in Springfield to see how they rate on two simple tests. K:BB is here to show us whether a pitcher has command of the strikezone. [...]

First of all, hat’s off to AZ for coming up with some great daytime posts this week. Sadly, I’ve been busy, busy, dreadfully busy (sorry, I really am not a fan of musicals–at all. That was my wife’s influence there) and haven’t had much time to post this week, hopefully I’ll have some good [...]

Johnson City and the GCL Cardinals both had their games postponed. This time the site is actually updated (surprise!).
We’ve got some high scoring games tonight. Rasmus rolls. Hoffpauir does something out of the ordinary. Buckman says hello. The Cardinals continue to trot out relievers as starters. . .
It’s all here in [...]

There are very few players that get me truly riled up regarding the level they are playing at. The college pitchers do in general but not in particular. Ottavino, Degerman. . . I’d like to see them move up but I can see the other side of the proverbial coin. Jarrett Hoffpauir, [...]

Memphis 2, Round Rock 3
Mike McCoy draws the only walk.
Edgar Gonzalez had the only extra base hit - a double.
The Redbirds totaled 5 baserunners in 9 IP.
Mike Parisi was solid going 8 innings allowing 3ER. He struck out 2 against 2 walks and 7 hits.
Springfield 6, Midland 3
Colby Rasmus appears to be all better. [...]

Apologies for not being around much lately, school & work & all that jazz. I’m starting up another series that will canvas our minor league pitchers. I can’t claim original credit for this idea, unfortunately. A while back in Februrary, Rich Lederer of Baseball Analysts went about classifying all the pitchers in [...]

A few interesting reading items today. Bryan Anderson is excited about his selection to the Futures Game. MiLB allows us to meet the Futures, with a focus on the catchers. Anderson is noted as the pick of the litter, but he still has work to do on his plate blocking skills. Brian Burwell floats the [...]

Few interesting reading items and tidbits before tonight’s DPR. It appears the key to Mather’s success this year has been that he’s stopped tinkering with his swing. Jarret Hoffpauir was named the TL player of the week. The Cards signed another indy leaguer. Saw this regarding Kozma and when he will sign at the comments [...]

I’m not sure how post-worthy this, but trolling around at the Swing’ site, I found that the Cardinals have signed 1st baseman Tim Dorn from Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League. He’ll be stepping into Buckman’s spot as designated huge first baseman. According to his page at the Baseball Cube, Dorn was a 14th [...]
