He caught last year and is playing 3B this year. See what happens when you get in a hurry. :) Flip-flop on what I said about Alvarado’s positions. He caught last year and is playing 3B this year. Shorey's probably as good to move up as anyone in the OF. When I saw him this weekend, he looked very diminuitive (despite being 6'0") at the plate but I don't remember him catching my eye + or - on anything. I wonder if the Rapoport moving up is, in part, because Jones can -- and probably should -- move to CF. Interesting development. Shorey’s probably as good to move up as anyone in the OF. He played 3B last season, but they have moved him behind the plate for now. He could be a "middle of the order" guy for the Cards in the future. He's very highly thought of in the organization. I'm very excited about Alvarado and Pham, and am happy for Shorey. That is awesome news BB593. I’m very excited about Alvarado and Pham, and am happy for Shorey.

Shorey was batting .293 in 50 games(188 AB's) for the Swing, including 3 HR's/30 RBI's. The Swing also announced today that OF Jim Rapoport had been promoted to Palm Beach. To fill out the Swing roster, two top prospects have been promoted from the extended spring training camp - SS Tommy Pham and C/3B Wilmer Alvarado. Keep an eye on Alvarado.
