Not a good night for the farm system. Everybody loses — and no, your mother lied to you; everyone losing does not = every winning.
Quick note: Eli Marrero was released by AAA Memphis. He injured himself before the season started, played one game where he went 2 for 4 at the plate, but allowed 5 stolen bases behind it. Ouch.
- Nick Stavinoha raises his average to .277 with a 3-for-4 showing including a double.
- Travis Hanson blasted a HR going 2-for-4.
- Randy Kiesler also did his job with the bat going 2-for-2 with a double.
- Unfortunately, Kiesler sucked at his primary job (aka pitching) allowing 8 ER in 5.2 innings. (Do you need to hear more than that?)
- Matt Ginter came in to finish off the lost cause with 2.1 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits.
Springfield 1, Corpus Christi 4
- Joe Mather went 2-for-4 with a double. Maybe his bat is picking up again?
- Tyler Greene took 2(!) walks and stole a base. This (!) is pertinent because Greene does not have good plate discipline at all.
- Cory Rauschenberger had a stellar outing throwing 7 innings, striking out 4 on 3 hits (1 solo HR).
- Jason Motte had a bad outing. He retired 2 batters allowing 3 runs and walking 5.
- Nathan Southard goes 2-for-3 and Jose Contreras goes 1-for-2 with a BB. The rest of the lineup was bad.
- 4 stolen bases for Lakeland tonight. Two off Trey Hearne and two off Scott Vander Weg.
- Trey Hearne has not been doing well in Palm Beach (a pitcher’s park). He allowed 11 hits, walking 4, striking out 4 with a wild pitch just for flair. (NAME THAT MOVIE - “You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don’t you just make the minimum 37 pieces of flair?”) In 5.2 innings, Hearne gave up 5 ER. His ERA now stands at 5.07. Batters are only striking out in ~10% of their plate appearances against him. Not good.
- Vander Weg (1.1 IP) and Kyle McClellan (1IP) finished off the game with scoreless efforts but, again, the damage was done.
- Jim Rapoport and Brandon Buckman each go 2-for-4 with a double.
- After walking 3 consecutive batters, Blake King was pulled in the first inning retiring only 2 batters. 4 ER, 4 hits, 4BBs, 4Ks. . .walking in a run before being yanked. Yikes.
- Brandon Dickson threw 4.2 innings as the back half of the tandem starter. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 3.

Name that movie, eh:
Trey, we’re gonna need to go ahead and move you downstairs into storage B. We have some new people coming in, and we need all the space we can get. So if you could just go ahead and pack up your stuff and move it down there, that would be terrific, OK?
Office Space was the movie. One of the all-time greats.
I just saw Office Space last night for the first time. Nice one!
