After hitting just .234/.306/.429 in his first 77 at bats in his usual “new level, new devil” slog through, Rasmus’s bat looks like it may have exorcised the demon. In his 13 plate appearances for the month of May, he’s hitting .545/.615/1.273 with 2 home runs.
Over his last 10 games (sinceĀ 4/23) Rasmus is hitting .353 with 4 doubles and 3 home-runs in 34 at bats. He’s even rediscovered his ability to steal bases, picking up his first 3 steals of the season. OneĀ other encouraging note for me has been his line drive rate of 18% and climbing, and his fly ball ratio is a robust 45%. Add that with the 20 pounds he’s put on his frame, the weather heating up and the fact that he’s playing 1/2 his game in Hammon’s Field, and me thinks Colby’s stock is set to go up. His GPA stands at a healthy .290 now.

hopefully he keeps up his current pace and makes them promote him….
even if he spends his season at AA all year, it wouldn’t be seen as a waste. he’s still very young. I’d be pleased if he hit memphis in 08, and took over in CF for 09…that appears to be the plan.
