This time I’ll start from the bottom up-
- Mark Shorey went 2 for 4 with a grand slam.
- Brandon Buckman went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles.
- Daryl Jones went 2 for 4 and was picked off at first.
- Brandon Dickson allowed only 2 hits and struck out 4 in 5 innings, with no walks.
- Blake King’s struggles continue, he gave up 4 runs in 2 innings, striking out 1.
- Kenny Maiques picked up his 3rd save, striking out 3 in 1 inning, allowing 1 hit and 1 run.
- Shane Robinson went 2 for 4, doubling and tripling and driving in 2 runs. He also had a sac fly.
- Allen Craig homered, going 1 for 4.
- Adam Ottavino had a rough go of it, going 4.2 innings, giving up 4 hits, a HR, 5 walks, 5 runs (4 earned) and he struck out 7. Like the K’s. I’m sure he’s not happy with the rest.
- Nick Webber stunk up the joint, giving up 4 runs in 1.2.
Wichita Wranglers (Royals) 6, Cardinals 1
- Chris Lambert was going OK until he got to the 7th inning, then he gave up 3 runs. He gave up 7 hits and a walk, striking out 3 and allowed 4 total runs. 4 of the hits off of Lambert were for extra bases, one being a HR.
- Juan Encarnacion was in the lead off spot in the first game of his rehab assignment. He went 0 for 3 with a walk. He was also doubled off on a liner hit off the bat of Colby Rasmus.
- Juan Richardson homered.
- The offense had a whopping 3 hits.
- Yippee! It’s time to take a whack at the Dewon Brazelton pinata!
- Rick Ankiel hit a 2 run homer for his only hit, tying himself with PCL HR leaders Ryan Braun, Billy Butler and Jack Cust.
- Chris Narveson pitched a complete game, allowing only 1 run on 5 hits and walk. Narvie struck out 7. His one run was a HR against the aforementioned super-fantastico propect Billy Butler.
- Ryan Ludwick, still stranded in AAA in favor of Skip Schumaker, doubled and homered. He drove in 4 runs and raised his OPS to 1.022.
- Edgar Gonzalez went 2 for 3. One of his hits was a triple.
Great games by Narveson and Ludwick, they are the players of the night.

Glad to see Narvie have such a great outing. More of those, please!
(Except for the 118 pitch-count—might’ve been happier with an 8-inning, 6K, 4-hit night.)
A Carp-Mulder-Wainwright-Narveson-Reyes starting rotation (with Hawksworth waiting in the wings) looks pretty good for 2008.
The link to Ryan Braun is Ryan Braun the pitcher, not the hitter. I would say Ryan Braun the third baseman, but that would be debatable.
Brock20-Yeah, Jeff Sackmann has an automatic link-ifier toy that saves some time. Still has a few bugs, however.
crap- I’ve been keeping an eye on Joe Mather since I saw his numbers and the word “SS” next to his name on his milb.com page, but then looking at the box score it seems he is merely a 1B/OF (and therefore nearly useless). What a shame.
wouldn’t call mather useless if he keeps hitting anything remotely like he has, regardless if he plays LF or SS. could be a gorecki (hot april, nothing to show afterwards) or could be a terry evans. a lot of the springfield media guys like him a lot.
