Short entry tonight — Memphis and Springfield postponed (STL Cardinals were postponed too for that matter). It’s kinda soggy in the midwest right now. . .
We begin tonight with a BATTLE OF THE BEACHES! One, Two, Three — GO!
The Good
- Shane Robinson 2-fo-4 with a double.
- Casey Rowlett went deep in the 5th.
- Nathan Southard, whom I haven’t really ever noticed before, went 2-for-4 with a double. Take a look at his stats — nice OBP, good ISO although the BABIP is higher than I would like but A ball defenses will do that for you.
The Bad
- Trey Hearne, VeB cult hero, gets roughed up. 5 and 1/3 innings — 6 hits, 3 runs, 1 BB, 4Ks (also gave up a longball). Trey’s not known for having great stuff so it will be interesting to see how he does as he moves up through the minor leagues. Were his numbers at the lower levels smoke and mirrors with him fooling bad hitters? Time will tell. . .
- Jose Martinez, wears the collar going 0-for-4. (But he’s still batting .310)
The Good
- Jim Rapoport reaches 3 times while Daryl Jones and Brandon Buckman reach twice.
- Brad Furnish picks off two base runners, but. . .
The Bad
- Brad Furnish gives up two runs in 3 and 2/3 innings after Tyler Herron gives up 3 runs (2 earned) in three innings.
- Despite collecting 8 hits, the Swing score 0 earned runs.
